A Brief History & Our Renewed Mission

Founded in 1978, American Kick-Punch Karate was designed to be a simple and effective method of Karate, that would prove to be as easy to read as it is user friendly. Originally the brain child of Danny Hill, Master Khan and Tom Johnson. Mixing concepts from their Individual backgrounds to form American Kick-Punch Karate. Danny Hill then a 3rd dan blackbelt in Taekwondo, Master Kahn a 5th dan in Baguazhang and Sensei Tom Johnson a 4th dan in Shotokan Karate came up with a very basic style of American Karate. One of the many unique features is the fact that Everything is in English. Including the name which isn’t that dissimilar from the Fist Foot Way definition of Taekwondo. After all this is the American way of Kicking and Punching. Hence the name American Kick-Punch Karate. Another unique feature is the very basic nature of the American Kick-Punch Karate system. Only containing 3 Kicking techniques and 3 punching techniques. Most practitioners end up adapting numerous additional techniques to their arsenal. Making no 2 American Kick-Punch Karate practitioners alike with the exception of their Basics. Another unique feature are the 9 empty hand forms and Nunchucku form that are completely unique to American Kick-Punch Karate system. The empty hand forms are named after the planets in our solar system while the Nunchucku form is named after the Sun. Each of these forms reinforce the lessons learned at each belt level as the student progresses. Pluto being the first form learned and Mercury being one of the last. The American Kick-Punch Karate Federation emblem is the embodiment of the form set of the system. With the sun in the center and the symbols of the planets surrounding it. Ultimately a symbol of the American Kick-Punch Karate practitioner. Contained in the original syllabus is a stretching and work out regimen along with a chart of progression. In 1981 the American Kick-Punch Karate Federation published their student hand book and launched an aggressive advertisement campaign. Leading to American Kick-Punch Karate dojos springing up everywhere throughout the 80's and early 90’s .In 2000 Mr. Pasquale Albino took over as president of the American Kick-Punch Karate Federation. In recent years this wonderful system has seen a decline with your help we can revive this amazing system. The mission of the newly formed American Kick-Punch Karate Association is to revive this amazing piece of Martial arts Americana. Through a combination of hard work and innovation we can evolve as both a style and as an association. We are pleased to bring to new concepts and post black belt curriculum to the table. All while falling under the leadership of our board of directors as well as a fresh start. .
